Batch Job Schedulers for Windows Systems

In order to manage mission-critical batch processes in a
robust fashion, you should make use of one of the
following Batch Job Schedulers which allow you to process
a series of batch files or other programs as a discrete
unit of work, with advanced error handling and logging.
These products are vastly superior to the native NT
scheduler service, and easily permit you to delegate job
scheduling responsibilities to non-administrators.
Although the Task Scheduler in 2000/XP/2003 is much
improved over the original AT job scheduler, the native
Windows scheduling is still no match for the features
of these 3rd party products, especially where it relates
to reporting and error handling.

PERSONAL NOTES
• Most of the products listed here are high-end, and
pretty expensive. If you need cross-platform
standardization of job scheduling, these are good
products to look at.
• 24x7 Scheduler is one of the best products in this
category that isn't priced ultra high. Will be a
bit difficult to implement if you have complex
scheduling requirements, though.
• The products from Arcana Development are both robust
and cost effective.

[1] I really can't stand this piece of software, due to
the number of silly application design issues. In
fairness, I haven't looked at it since 2001.
